Description of the Working Groups [E-SWAN WGs]
WG0 - Technical
This working group has the duty of providing the technical support to E-SWAN, by maintaining the website, working tools (e.g., cloud services) and mailing lists, including setting up the voting. E-SWAN General Secretary is an ex-officio member of this WG.
WG1 - Space Weather Policies and Plans (SW2P)
This WG addresses actions to contribute to the assessment of the national and international landscapes concerning Space Weather policies and plans and related issues and how they affect the European SWSC community. E-SWAN President and Vice-President are ex-officio members of this WG.
WG2 - Liaison office (LIAS)
This WG is formed by people that already have roles in key institutions, such as: SCOSTEP, COSPAR, IAGA, IAMAS, IAU, IU, SCAR, URSI, IUGG, WMO, UNCOPUOS, EGU, EPS, etc. Their role is to represent E-SWAN in those tables and report to the Executive Board about initiatives within those institutions that are of interest to E-SWAN. E-SWAN President and Vice-President are ex-officio members of this WG.
WG3 - Funding (FUND)
This WG is dedicated to finding possible means and opportunities to fund the E-SWAN activities. E-SWAN Treasurer and Executive Director are ex-officio members of this WG.
WG4 - Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I)
This WG is dedicated to promote DE&I within the association and interact with similar working groups in scientific associations. This WG will promote DE&I within all E-SWAN related events, in collaboration with the ESWW PC and EOCom.
WG5 - Observational networks, infrastructure & data (ONID)
This WG is dedicated to review, propose and harmonise SWSC activities related to ONID. This WG is in charge to collect feedback and propose solutions for the long term activities of key ONID.
WG6 - Operational activities and science products quality assessment (OA&QA)
This WG is dedicated to review, harmonise and bridging the European SWSC community around operational activities and related activities dedicated to the assessment of the quality of the science products. The WG will also support the adoption of common standards for QA within the community.
WG7 - Users engagement (USENG)
This WG is dedicated to the involvement of the various actors in SWSC. It works in synergy with EOCom for the organisation of events (e.g. small workshops) dedicated to the user communities, providing inputs on the possible topics to which they can be interested.
WG8 - Sustainability (SUST)
This WG aims to evaluate the carbon footprint of the Space Weather and Space Climate sector, and provide guidelines to help us improve it. Any E-SWAN members feeling concerned by this topic are welcome to join.
WG9 - Education and Outreach proto-Committee (EOCom)
This WG is dedicated to reaching out to the Space Weather and Space Climate community and the general public. We aim to set up a dedicated social network, to organise Space Weather and Space Climate courses and webinars, to publish a Space Weather and Space Climate book, to improve the scientific content of the E-SWAN website, and any action devoted to Space Weather and Space Climate outreach and education.
