Dear colleagues,

A call is now open to elect the next Executive Board (EB), as outlined in the E-SWAN Bylaws (E-swan executif board).The role of the Executive Board is described in more details in the E-SWAN Statutes. The EB is made of six members.

One position is devoted to the Chair of the Council and is therefore not open for voting. The remaining five other roles are: President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer and the Executive Director (E-swan executif board).

Any applicant must work in Europe in the geographical sense, have a strong track record and be engaged in the core activities of E-SWAN.

Following the bylaws of the Association, the candidates apply to be members of the Executive Board and not for specific roles in the Executive Board. In order to apply, please send as a single pdf file to the Search Task Force (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) the following information:

- Name, first name, institute

- Motivation for applying

- A one page summary outlining in a maximum of one page:

  1. How you see your role in the Association
  2. Your academic and professional background
  3. What are/were your responsibilities in the area of space weather and space climate in national and international context
  4. Any other personal element that would support your candidacy

This information will be shared with and circulated within E-SWAN members.Voting will take place at the first E-SWAN General Assembly during the next ESWW (https://www.stce.be/esww2022/index.php). Information on how to vote will be circulated early October 2022.

The deadline for applying is July 15th, 2022.

Election for E-SWAN vacancies

  1. Candidates will apply as individuals for any E-SWAN vacancy.
  2. Candidates will express their interest to apply for the vacancy to the “Search Task force” of the specific vacancy if it exists or to the chair of the Council if not.
  3. Ballot forms, listing all candidates for the vacancy proposed by the Council shall be distributed to all E-SWAN members by the Executive Board. The ballot form will mention the number of vacancies to fill.
  4. E-SWAN members will be asked to select as many names as there are vacancies to fill within the list of candidates with no ranking.
  5. The N candidates that collect the highest number of votes are elected, where N is the number of vacancies to fill. Ideally elected Executive Board members should not have a seat at the council
  6. Results of the election will be announced by the Executive on the E-SWAN website.
     

Terms of E-SWAN Executive Board

  1. The term of office is four years for the President and Vice-President (inside the four-year rotation described in the statutes) and two years for the other roles (General Secretary, Treasurer and Executive Director).
  2. For the first executive board election there will be five vacancies. For the subsequent election there will be four vacancies due to the four-year rotation principle.
  3. Candidates apply to be members of the Executive Board and not for specific roles in the Executive Board.
  4. Once the five Executive Board members are elected, the newly elected Executive Board members have two weeks to reach a consensus on the Executive Board role distribution among them.
