Nuno Peixinho is a Principal Researcher of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra, affiliated to the “Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço”, Portugal. Holds a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics by the University of Lisbon since 2005. Was the Portuguese Delegate at the ESO Users' Committee, from 2018 to 2024, and is a National Astronomy Education Co-Coordinator of IAU, since 2019. He is Sub-Director of the Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra, since 2024, and Coordinator of its Science Communication Office since 2015. He was a Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra, from 2020 to 2022. He teaches Planetary Sciences and Fundamentals of Planetary Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra. His main research interests are: Minor Bodies of the Solar System, Space Safety, and Space Debris.
